At the end of August, I arrived at a home on the Chesapeake Bay for our opening retreat, wholly unsure of what to expect as a Fellow.
It was intimidating to leave my home and friends in Richmond and come to live with a group of 11 strangers. But the Lord loves to give good gifts to his children, and he has blessed us Fellows with great leadership, friendships, and church community.
I am so very thankful for the work (and prayers!) put forth by Dave, Jenn, the Fellows Board, and countless others at Fourth. These efforts have allowed me to learn about vaccine development through my job placement at Novavax, the implications of being made in image of God with Prof. Patterson at RTS, and even how to receive kisses from my host family’s dog Riley.
I’ve also enjoyed spending Monday afternoons with Dr. Redd in our Biblical Wisdom class, during which he graciously fields questions on topics including the historicity of the Bible, continuity between the Old and New Testaments, and how to properly interpret difficult passages. In college, I felt that I had to choose between studying the history or the theology of the Bible, so I am grateful to do both with Dr. Redd.
As I look to the year ahead, I’m excited to deepen my relationships within the Fourth community, which will lead me toward the ultimate goal of growing deeper in knowledge of the fullness of our Lord Jesus Christ.
